Master Classes

Lectures, demonstrations and individual master classes have been offered to area high school students by guest artists who perform with the Peoria Symphony Orchestra.

In past years, there have been percussion, woodwind, piano, and steelpan clinics sponsored by the Guild.

Trumpet Master Class & Music Careers Talk

Jeffrey Holbrook, Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, will teach a Trumpet Master Class on Wednesday, February 15, 6:30 p.m. at Bradley University's Dingeldine Music Center. The evening begins with a music career talk as Jeffrey shares his story of success from growing up in central Illinois to attending The Juilliard School and achieving his current post as Associate Principal Trumpet with the Seoul Philharmonic. Master class starts at 7:15 p.m. Student participants include members of the Central Illinois Youth Symphony and students of Bradley University. A reception will follow hosted by the Peoria Symphony Guild.

Jeffrey Holbrook performs Alexander Arutiunian's "Trumpet Concerto" with the Peoria Symphony Orchestra on Saturday, February 18, 8 p.m., Peoria Civic Center Theater.

Jeff's Bio:

Central Illinois native and Central Illinois Youth Symphony alumnus Jeffrey Holbrook is Associate Principal Trumpet with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra in South Korea. He began his tenure with the SPO in 2006, just months after completing his Bachelors of Music at The Juilliard School. With the Seoul Philharmonic, he has toured extensively through out Europe, the United States and Asia and can be heard on recordings under the Deutsche Grammophon label.
